Therese (Terry) F. Lanzon Our mom, Therese F. Lanzon, passed away suddenly March 30, 2009 in her home. She was born August 20, 1928 in Grand Haven, Michigan. She met and married Joseph Lanzon, a handsome young First Lieutenant in the Air Force on July 25, 1949. She is now reunited with our Dad who passed on October 19, 2006 and their youngest daughter, Elizabeth Anne, who died in 1974. She will be missed by her three daughters and their husbands: JeanMarie Foss (Jerry) of Fircrest, WA, Patricia Ann Bibo (Mike) of Galesburg, IL and Marycatherine Stubbs (Jon) of Tacoma, WA. She’s now watching over her grandchildren, Matt (Sarah), Greg (Jeni), Jillian, Halley (Dan), Neil, and Claire. Mom loved her volunteer work at St John Bosco’sE. She always looked forward to Friday mornings in the church office. She was active in the Funeral Ministry and was well know for her Pistachio Salad. For many years she was known as “The Rosary Lady”. She crafted the most beautiful rosaries and many folks would ask for special requests or if she could repair old family heirloom antique rosaries. In addition to SJB she loved her backyard bird sanctuary, to the point of trapping pesky raccoons & possums with her “have a heart” trap; she even would take “pot shots” with her BB gun only to scare off other critters so her birds could thrive. Our mother was such a warm, beautiful person always putting us in front of her needs. In the last few years she had became the most amazing woman: healthy, positive, humorous…we were hoping she would be around for a lot longer. God had better a plan! Rosary will be held at 10:00AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00am, Saturday, April 4th, 2009, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Lakewood. A luncheon honoring mom will be held after the service. Memorials may be made to the St. John Bosco Pastor Fund. Please sign online Guest Book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com .
Betty Noble Repp On March 29, Betty Repp died comfortably at her home of 60 years in the North End. She was 91. Born in Boise, Idaho, she spent her childhood in Portland, Oregon. In the early 1930s, her family moved to Tacoma where she graduated from Stadium High School and the University of Puget Sound, (then College of Puget Sound). Betty was president of her sorority and treasurer of her senior class. Her first teaching job was in Cowiche, Washington where she met Harry Repp at a dance. They were married New Year’s Eve 1943 and moved to Seattle. In 1949, they moved with their two daughters into their North End home. A wizard with needle and thread, Betty made clothes for herself, children, and even sport coats for Harry. She taught sewing at Bates Vocational School and donated many hand-sewn items to charities. She played bridge regularly with friends she had known since college and was an active member of Fircrest Golf Club and Mason United Methodist Church. Betty traveled all over the world with Harry. After his death in 1998, she became good friends with Bernard Blake of Lakewood. Betty welcomed her many friends to her home, treated them to homemade cookies, and introduced them to her succession of well-loved cats. In her last years, she was kindly cared for by Barb McKay, Cindy Hardwick, Jennifer Too, and Stephanie Hall. Betty is survived by daughters Susan Repp of Tacoma and Nancy Lemke of Bonita, California. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 5, at 3PM at Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 N. Madison, Tacoma.
