Robert E. Moore Our beloved and caring husband, father, friend, and mentor passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2009 with his loving wife, Betty, of more than 62 years, at his side. Born in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 6, 1920 to Lawrence and Maude May Moore he lived a wonderful 88 years. Bob graduated from Twin Falls HS in 1939 and then traveled to CA to work for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft building planes. One day after his 21st birthday America was attacked at Pearl Harbor and wanting to defend his country he immediately joined the Navy, serving in the South Pacific from 1941 until 1945. Bob sent much of his wages home to his family and became a baker along the way. After the war he returned to Twin Falls and went to work for Standard Oil. Lifting 55 gallon drums threw his back out and he started a long and rewarding career as an audiologist and owning his own hearing aid offices for over 28 years. However, his lifetime dream, after being a baker in the Navy, was to open his own pie shop and he made that a reality by opening and operating the Pie Patch on Broadway Plaza in Tacoma from 1975 until 1988 and then retired. Bob will be remembered in many ways, but most of all for his amazing humor that never left him. He loved gardening and sunning in the yard, fishing and hunting, watching and playing football, dancing with his beautiful bride, playing bridge and cribbage, watching movies of all kinds, and had a passion for cars. The person who had the most influence on him was his wife Betty, who took care of him diligently after his stroke, allowing him to stay living at home and enjoying life as long as he did. He is also survived by his three children Brenda Lee, Becky Hagenah (Mark) and Bill Moore (Nancy), six grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Monday April 6 at 2PM at Oberlin Congregational Church, 1603 Rainier St. Steilacoom, WA 98388. In Lieu of flowers please send donations to Oberlin Congregational Church. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home 253-584-0252. Please sign online guestbook at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
