Cars lined up all day at the Chambers Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant gate for the Third Annual SoundGro Giveaway on March 14. A record 110
tons of bagged SoundGro was given away to over 1,300 people despite the cold, wet and windy weather. Additional bags accounted for $2,000 in sales. A team of 22 employees plus help from the District Court work crew moved 4,400 bags of SoundGRO during the six hour event – an average of twelve 50 pound bags a minute.
Pierce County Collections and Treatment Plant staff kept everything moving smoothly. Ann Marie, a local resident, commented, “It was just a nice event, from the guy at the front gate to the people loading our truck, everyone was so professional.”
Dick Muri, Pierce County councilmember, and Ron Lucas, Steilacoom’s mayor were on hand and joined in. “We were so busy that we put our special guests to work,” said Tricia Jarbeaux, event organizer.Print This Post
