Recently, three of our Lakewood Knights Lions were invited to be judges for Mrs McLeod’s 8th Grade Class Science Fair at Mann Middle School. I don’t know about my fellow Lion friends, but I was just a little apprehensive. It had been a very long time since I was involved in a classroom environment and I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. I did agree to be one of the judges, along with Lions Chuck Gilchrist, and Bob Howard. We spent the complete day meeting students, having them explain their projects and evaluating their presentations and projects. It was a full day and after it was over, all three of us agreed, we were very pleased to have had the opportunity. Not only were we impressed with the quality of the students’ projects, we were also impressed with their appearance and demeanor. They were very polite and courtious. I am pleased I accepted the offer to be a judge because the students were just wonderful and we had a great day working with them. I commend Mrs. McLeod for her hard work developing and coordinating the Science Fair and for the positive student response. Thanks also, to Mr. Ron Banner, Principal, for his courtesy and the courtesy his students showed us while we wer there.
