Lakewood, WA — At approximately 1:40 p.m., (March 1) the Lakewood Fire Department responded to a report of a “CPR in progress” at American Lake. Firefighters arrived to the scene to find a teenage male struck by a boat while kayaking this afternoon. The vessel that struck the boy left the scene.
The boy was found unconscious and floating in the water by a passing fisherman, who towed him to shore. Lakewood paramedics transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
The boy was wearing a bright colored life jacket. The Lakewood Fire Department would like to remind you to always wear a life jacket near or on the water.
This incident is under investigation and being handled by the Lakewood Police Department.
