Mayor Doug Richardson announced that he will seek reelection to the Lakewood City Council in 2009. He stated that he will continue to focus on those issues that matter most ‚Äì public safety, economic development that creates jobs, redevelopment of Tillicum and American Lake Gardens, and ensuring that neighboring military installations are protected from encroachment.
Richardson noted that by being fiscally responsible, Lakewood has provided services to citizens while maintaining the lowest utility tax rates in the area, a property tax rate down to under $1 per thousand, and no city Business and Occupation (B&O) tax. He understands that city funds are taxpayer dollars.
Mayor Richardson has lived and worked in Lakewood for over 30 years. He and his wife, Charlene, raised their family here and have been active in many youth sports, civic, and, charitable organizations.
Mayor Richardson will have a breakfast campaign kick-off event on March 2, 2009 at 7:30AM at the Old Country Buffet in the Lakewood Town Center.
