Thursday morning Lakewood United members welcomed Adam Baker, Corporate Sales Manager for the Tacoma Rainiers.
After a brief history of both the Rainiers and Cheney stadium Mr. Baker proceeded to inform what is the same and what is new for the 2009 Tacoma Rainiers.
Hold overs from the 2008 season include the coaching staff (who sent a record number of players to the Majors and a new home run record), and the same commitment to fan and family entertainment.
New this season will be the addition of a 25 x 50 foot High Definition TV screen, a first and the largest, screen in Minor League Baseball. Over all, the Tacoma Rainiers have put in more than $2.5 million in upgrades for this season.
Mr. Baker also provided a few statistics from last year:
‚Ä¢ 336,000 fans at Cheney stadium
‚Ä¢ Season ticket sales has seen a 38% increase over last year at this time
‚Ä¢ Single ticket sales has increased 18% increase
The team also earned the 2008 Ellis Award. This award is given by the Seattle Mariners to its organizations that provide outstanding community service for the year.
Additional programs are still offered such as the Red/White/Blue program for Military personnel and their families and Kids Night Out where for a donation an underprivileged child of the community are brought to the game provided great seats, food and drinks. As well as different ticket packages such as full season ticket sales and 7 game ticket sales.
