Fort Lewis, WA — The 47th Combat Support Hospital will case their colors Thursday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m., during a deployment ceremony at Wilson Fitness Center in preparation for the units’ upcoming deployment to Iraq.
About 240 Soldiers from the 47th Combat Support Hospital (CSH) will deploy to several different medical treatment facilities in Iraq to provide treatment within the Multi-National Corps in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The 47th CSH will serve as a Level III treatment facility that will deploy and provide health care to the Soldiers and civilians within the area of operation.
In March 2003, the battalion deployed to Kuwait and established the first U.S. Army hospital in support of OIF. The unit returned to Fort Lewis in December 2003.
The unit deployed to Iraq in October 2005 and provided medical treatment and hospitalization services in Tikrit and Mosul. The unit returned in October 2006.
