William Kearney from Lakewood, WA was selected to attend the 2009 National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington D.C. William will participate in the national security forum February 10-15, 2009. William is a junior at Lakes High School in Lakewood, where he is a member of the Honor Society, Varsity Football / Track Teams and Mentorship Program. He is also a member of the First Baptist Youth group in Lakewood and carries a 3.78 GPA. William is the son of Karl and Jackie Kearney of Lakewood.
Founded in 1992, the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) is an independent, educational organization established to help prepare extraordinary young people for their professional careers. Its mission is to bring various professions to life, empowering outstanding young people with confidence to make well-informed career choices. Forums are offered in a variety of career fields, including law, medicine and national security. High achieving high school and university students are nominated to attend NYLF programs by educators, organization advisors, alumni, and participating institutions or through classroom surveys. NYLF scholars all demonstrate strong academic abilities, leadership and an interest in the career field being studied.
