Seven Clover Park High School students earned Act Six scholarships to attend Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in Parkland, Northwest University in Kirkland and Trinity Lutheran College in Everett. Yessie Arellano and Darrell McKinney will attend PLU, Grace Brigham will attend Northwest and Jose Rodriguez, Sam Smith, Kimberlie Hanes and Kristin Manning will attend Trinity. All seven students received full scholarships and will receive college preparation assistance, peer support and leadership training.
“I feel very blessed to be given such a wonderful opportunity to accomplish one of my greatest goals‚Äîto be the first in my family to attend college,” said Arellano, who plans to enter PLU’s nursing program to be a pediatric nurse. “I am proud of myself and glad to see that my hard work and the hard work of my parents has been rewarded.”
Collectively, the seven recipients aspire for careers in medicine, engineering, psychology and social work. They are athletes, members of the National Honor Society, Junior Air Force ROTC, freshman mentors and volunteers. They are actively involved in service organizations and churches and work in the community.
