The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their 11th Annual Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Sharon McGavick Conference Center at Clover Park Technical College.
The Chili Cook-Off continues to grow in popularity (as well as competitiveness among the challengers) to make the best chili possible. Everyone who attends the cook-off gets to vote for their favorite chili recipe. A rivalry between the Lakewood Police and Fire Departments continues to add to the fun as they make side bets as to who will be the victor. New this year, are competitors from the Army ‘Diva Wives” and the Air Force. Linda Smith, President & CEO of the Chamber noted this event continues to grow in popularity. This year’s theme, “Chuck Wagon Challenge” will undoubtedly include western wear and innovative table decorations by the contestants. Thirteen competitors have signed up to participate.
Cost of the luncheon is $20 if you pre-pay. $30 at the door. Call 582-9400 to make your reservations today.
Proceeds from the cook-off go to the Chamber’s Business Students of the Year Scholarship fund. The scholarship monies have been awarded to three high school students from Clover Park School District and a student from both Clover Park Technical College and Pierce College every June. New this year, is a specific scholarship to be awarded to a military dependent.Print This Post
