Mark Martinez has been named to the Clover Park Technical College Board of Trustees. Martinez’s appointment was announced January 20th by Governor Gregoire’s office.
Martinez currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the Pierce County Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, and he is an executive board member of the Pierce County Central Labor Council. As a strong supporter of the two year colleges, Martinez was instrumental in strengthening the Roofer’s Apprenticeship program offered at Clover Park Technical College’s Fort Lewis Campus. Martinez also serves on the Bates Technical College General Advisory Council.
“Mark Martinez has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to technical education through his work as an apprenticeship coordinator and labor leader. He will make an outstanding trustee and I look forward to working with him,” said Dr. John Walstrum, Clover Park Technical College President.
Martinez resides with his family in South Tacoma. Martinez remarked, “I would like to thank Governor Gregoire for her confidence in me, as I will work with fellow board members to ensure that her vision of world class technical education continues to be delivered at Clover Park Technical College.”
Martinez awaits confirmation by the State Senate and upon confirmation he will serve a four year term on the Board of Trustees.
