Daniel Marvin Todorovich

Dan was born in Walla Walla, WA, to Dan and Avis Todorovich. He graduated from McLoughlin High School, Milton-Freewater, OR, and Walla Walla College, College Place, WA. He served honorably in the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. He became a radio and TV personality, pilot, professional photographer, and commercial real estate sales executive. He traveled the world and lived in Germany, England, and Israel for several years. His talents included oil and watercolor painting, and playing guitar. He had a zest for life, enjoyed fly fishing, spending time with good friends and always showed genuine gusto for great food. He was passionate about studying the word of God, and being the best person he could be. His love of learning and literature will be memorialized with a scholarship fund. He credited God‚Äôs answer to his prayers with sustaining his life for four times longer than doctors had predicted he could survive after being assigned to hospice care exactly two years to the day prior to his death. Survivors include sisters Kitty (Jim) Todorovich-Eppard, of Belen, NM, Jaynie (Charles) Jones, of Tacoma, WA, former wife Sandra Jayne Love, of Lake Tahoe, NV, uncles Bud (Goldie) Todorovich, Boring, OR, and John (Norma Jean) Todorovich, Moorpark, CA, cousins from New York to Hawaii, beloved neighbors and dear friends whose love and caring helped him through his lengthy illness all the way to the end of his life at Franciscan Hospice House, in University Place, WA on 12/26/08. Lyla C. Fugich

Lyla was called home to our Heavenly Father peacefully andwas surrounded by her family Jan. 4, 2009 in Yelm, WA. She was born July 13, 1916 in New England, ND to Carl and Amanda Moen. Lyla was raised in Aneta, ND and graduated from Devils Lake School of Nursing in 1940 with a Registered Nurses degree. She moved to Tacoma, WA on 1/3/1941. Lyla married John Fugich Jr. 1/3/1942 in Tacoma and at the time of dads passing on 1/11/2004 had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Lyla was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Yelm, WA. She was a 50+ year member and Past Worthy Matron at Ivy Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Tacoma. She was an accomplished poet, loved to dance with “Daddy” do crossword puzzles, crafts and sewing. Laughter she said was her best medicine. Lyla attributed her long life to love of God, family and friends. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was known for her Norwegian delicacies she made during the holiday seasons. Lyla is survived by her son Jerry Fugich (Betty) and daughter Carla Ann Fugich Smith (Scott) both of Yelm, WA. 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Fugich Jr., parents Carl & Amanda Moen, brothers George Gardner, Kirmit Moen, Harlen Moen and sister Adeline (Meon)EBever. Funeral will be at Mt. Elna C. Nicholson
Elna C. Nicholson was born May 5, 1918 to William and Lena Sundquist and passed away at home January 1, 2009. A lifelong resident of Tacoma, she graduated from Stadium High School and worked as a receptionist for Marcus Nalley of Nalley Foods Company. She was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of 52 years who founded Nicholson Engineering Company. She greatly enjoyed her family especially family breakfasts and dinners with all the kids and grandkids. She loved walking the beaches at Point Defiance Park was an avid fuchsia gardener. She is survived by her daughter Sue Nicholson Butkus, sons David (Bev) and R. William (Debbie); grandchildren Jennifer Nicholson, Steven Nicholson, and John Leer; and great grandchildren Kayla, Abigayle and Eryk Keath; one son James (Jim) died in 1970. Ray Eldridge Brown
Our father left to join his beloved brother Reg and childhood sweetheart/wife Margaret last Monday, December 29, 2008. Ray was born July 21, 1924, and was raised in Tacoma by his parents, Ximena Irene and Claude U. Brown. He attended Lincoln High School with his best friend and brother, Reginald C. Strout. He was drafted into the Army during World War II, and served his military days in the South Pacific. He and our mother, Margaret Alice Warren, were married on April 10, 1943. After working many years with the Post Office in Tacoma, he became a quality control inspector for the Boeing Company, a job he loved and stayed with until his retirement after 40 years of service. He enjoyed spending his retirement days playing poker, even joining his Palace Casino card table buddies December 28. Ray leaves behind three daughters and a son: Gracie Louise (Bill) Baker, Evelyn Alice (Larry) Phillips, Linda I. (Dave Christiansen) Brown, and David Ray (Sue) Brown. He’s also survived by 12 wonderful grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a gazillion nieces and nephews! Richard Henry Cray
Sept. 18, 1956 – Dec. 28, 2008 Early December 28th, we lost a beloved and integral member of our family. Richard Henry Cray was born on September 18th, 1956 at Madigan Hospital in Fort Lewis, WA by Maggie Cray and preceded in death by his father, Henry Cray. Throughout his childhood he lived in places such as Germany and Virginia before his parents settled in Lakewood, WA. Richard spent the rest of his life in Lakewood, attending Lakes High School in 1974, and being a well-liked and respected person in the community. Richard’s many interests included a love of music, cooking, golf, billiards, his children, grandchildren, and his many friends. Richard was known for living life to the fullest, as well as his optimistic outlook on life. He is survived by his children Natasha and Maggie, grandchildren Kaylani, Paul Jr., Lyeshea, siblings Robert (Sue), Kenneth, Deborah and Margaret, as well as many nieces and nephews. Passed away December 23rd, 2008, age 92, at his home in Bellevue, WA. Born December 11, 1916 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Alfred served with honor during World War II as a US Army medic in Europe. He worked 35 years for the federal government. His beloved wife Ruth of 60 years, who passed in 1998, precedes Alfred in death. Alfred is survived by his sister Margaret (Pearl) Ellefsen of Wausau, WI; daughter Barbara Paterson of Redmond, WA and son Douglas Paterson (Nancy) of Centennial, CO; grandchildren Brenda Guiranovitch (Duane), Ryan Paterson (Amy), Bradley Paterson, and Brian Willis (Katrina Radalet); great-grandchild Jordan, son of Brian and Katrina; many favorite nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 2pm at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, 12202 NE 90th St., Kirkland, WA, 98033.
