MARGARET L. REYNOLDS EGGIMANN
A love of life, a devotion to her family, and a playful sense of humor carried Margaret Eggimann through 89 years. She passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008. Margaret was born July 13, 1919, to Hazel and Howard Reynolds in Umatilla, Oregon. Shortly after her birth, the Reynolds family moved to Tacoma. She was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln High School and a proud Lincoln Letter Lassie. She married Robert (Bob) Eggimann on January 1, 1940. They built their home in Firwood (now Fife) and she continued to live in that home for 68 years. She worked for Maloney’s Floral Shop for 17 years. She had a passion for flowers and shared her creations with many friends and family. She took great pride in her garden. Margaret gave vegetables and flowers to anyone who would enjoy them. She loved to decorate for every season and holiday and enjoyed dressing up for holidays at the Milton Senior Center. Margaret is predeceased by her parents Howard and Hazel Reynolds, her husband Bob, her sisters Mildred Kuhne and Doris Woodruff, her son-in-law Ernie Schaaf, and many dear friends and relatives. She is survived by daughters Judie Schaaf and Donna Grappe, granddaughters Deanna Dillon (Dave), Kelley Rose, and Kristin Holten (Mike), and great grandchildren Kayleigha and Karalyn Holten, Nickolas and Lacey Rose, and Anna Dillon, and nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 3rd at noon in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood. A reception will follow in the Oak Room. Fred O. Ripley
Was born February 18, 1948. He died December 18, 2008 after a brave fight with esophageal cancer. Fred is survived by his wife Mary, children Paul (Jenny) Appel, Paul (Sarah) Ripley, Kristin (Lonnie) Bolles, James (Afton) Ripley, Brian (Jill) Ripley, and Mary Ripley. He is also survived by his parents, Paul and Eleanor Ripley, sister Pam (Jerry) Cavnee, and brother Jerry Neil (Laurie) Ripley. He is survived by his most loved grandchildren, Nicole Swanson, Cody and Zac Ripley, Emily and Paul Nicholas Jr. Ripley, Connor and Anna Ripley, Michael and Annika Appel, and Jacob Bolles. Fred was employed for 30 years with the Tacoma School District. He was Chief Custodian at Fern Hill, Geiger, Birney, and McIlvaigh Middle School. Upon retirement, he embarked on a new career that brought him tremendous pleasure as a delivery person at Blitz Florist. He loved being a part of that wonderful, creative group of folks. A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
Etsuko Mahelona Tsubokawa
Passed away unexpectedly at home in Tacoma at 76. She was born on March 3, 1932 in Hamgyong-Nando, Korea. “Amy”, as she was known to friends is preceded in death by her husband Gustin M. Tsubokawa, daughter Terumi Tsubokawa and mother Haruno Tsubokawa. Talented in Japanese crafts, she was a member of Tanpopo-No-Kai women’s association and Hyakudo Kai seniors club. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 23 at 10 AM in the Aspen Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W., Lakewood, WA. Her ashes will be placed in Byodo-In Temple, Kahalu’u, Hawai’i. She will be dearly missed by her family and family of friends. Aloha.
Richard “Richie” Pennington Jr.
2~18~74 ~ 12~8~08 He is survived by his parents Richard Pennington Sr. & Pat Hale and 1 son Skyler Pennington, two brothers Chris & Tom Hale, many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Sassy a Sharpei. Anytime, anybody needed Richie’s help he would be there for them. He was loved and will be missed by all. Rest in peace my loving son. LEROY L. EIDE
Leroy L. (Bud) Eide, 89, passed away Dec. 17, 2008. Born in Brainerd, MN, the son of Martin and Anna Eide, Bud served in WWII and retired from ASARCO after 34 years. Preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, he leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Margaret, 1 son Mark Sr. (Wilma), 2 grandchildren, Amy Diener (Scott), Mark Jr. (Shannon), 3 great- grandchildren, and his brother James. At his request, there will be no services. Inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery.
