Fort Lewis, WA — Child and Youth Services will host a grand opening for the first modular child care facilities planned for Fort Lewis, and will dedicate the center in memory of a former employee, in a ceremony to be conducted at 9 a.m., Dec. 18.
The Eileen Beaulieu Infant Toddler Child Development Center will make additional 36 infant spaces and 26 pre-toddler or toddler spaces available to Fort Lewis families.
Construction for the center began in April, 2008. The center is the first of five modular child care facilities and two after-school care facilities to be built at Fort Lewis during the next two years. Additionally, two youth centers, and two child care centers for school-aged children, are also planned.
When complete, these centers will greatly increase the child care spaces available to military families at Fort Lewis, and help meet the increased need for quality child care, particularly infant and toddler care, during large unit deployments.
