Diana Dix (Principal of Tillicum Elementary), David Anderson (President of TWNA), Nathan Muckley (Treasurer – TWNA), and Karen Lebeter (Secretary – TWNA) hold a check from the Tillicum Woodbrook Neighborhood Association made payable to Tillicum Elementary.
At the last meeting of the Tillicum/Woodbrook Neighborhood Association (first Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm), a check was presented to Tillicum Elementary School.
Since the City of Lakewood will not be offering grants to the neighborhood associations next year, this was the last grant made with city money. Any grants in the future will be from elsewhere. Grantwriters will be looking everywhere for funds to help schools and the community.
The principal of Tillicum Elementary, Diana Dix, was on hand to accept the check for more than $800. This was money to help pay for field trips.
The TWNA is accepting nominations for their annual Rudy ‘Rebel’ Baker Award. This is given every year to someone (a person or group of people) in the community that has made a difference in crime prevention or the safety of the community. If you have someone in mind, please send their name and why you think they deserve the award to any board member of the TWNA, or drop it off at the Tillicum Community Center for them. The person will have their name engraved on a plaque in the Tillicum Community Center as well as a small remembrance gift to take home.
The January meeting of the TWNA will be at 6:30 pm on January 8th since the 1st is a holiday. During 2009, TWNA will be working on disaster and emergency preparedness as well as home safety. If you live in Tillicum or Woodbrook (also known as American Gardens), please plan on attending the meetings next year. You will get monthly updates on everything happening.
Karen S. Lebeter
Secretary of TWNA
