SHS Senior Erika Mueller is trading a Steilacoom Sentinel uniform for one from Brown University. The young woman, who plans to eventually enter a pre-law course, has accepted an invitation to play Fast Pitch for the Ivy League School in Rhode Island. Mueller received a 90 percent endowment scholarship ($45,000) for her freshman year from the school which is the 7th oldest university in the U.S.
A product of Steilacoom’s education system “all of my life”, Erika says she’s looking forward to attending the prestigious school. Erika has played fast pitch all four years of high school, also plays competitively year round.
Surrounded by a gathering of friends, teachers and family members Penny and Paul Mueller, Erika says it’s “been a journey of more than 16 months of being in contact with 300 different colleges’ fast pitch programs — Brown responded with details and interest after seven months of anticipation.”
“The Brown coaches even took two hours to interview me during an ‘exposure’ tournament held in California this past summer.”
“It was very difficult to narrow down the top colleges, but I’m very confident in my decision to attend Brown next fall, especially after my official visit to the school this past October.”
“In addition to its prestigious academics and competitive Division I Athletics Program, what most sold me on the school is the people there.”Print This Post
