Executive John Ladenburg has been named Tourism Visionary Award winner for his leadership in Chambers Bay’s development into a world class golf course on the site of a former sand and gravel mining operation. The award was presented by the Tacoma Regional Convention + Visitor Bureau during its Annual Meeting Nov. 20 at the Museum of Glass.
Tammy Blount, the CVB’s executive director, said the award honors an individual whose long-term effort, commitment and trail-blazing accomplishments have set the stage for regional tourism. Chambers Bay already has attracted thousands of visiting golfers from throughout North America and abroad and was named by the United States Golf Association as host site for the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open championships.
Among its numerous national golf industry awards, Chambers Bay was named Course of the Year by Travel + Leisure Golf magazine.
