The 2008 Northwest Athletic Association of Community College (NWAACC) Volleyball awards were announced today (November 20), and the seven members of the Pierce College Raiders Women’s Volleyball Team were recognized for their outstanding season. The Pierce College Players honored are:
- Western Region Co-MVP (Most Valuable Player): Kylie Jeffers – Kylie is a freshman from Puyallup HS. She is widely recognized as one of the top setters in the entire NWAACC, and certainly the very best in the West Region. It is unusual for a freshman to receive the MVP award.
- Western Region 2nd Team All-Stars: Rachel Hansen and Laura Struck – Rachel (Evergreen Lutheran HS) and Laura (Eatonville HS) are both sophomores who have provided dynamic leadership in their second season with the Raiders, and have been the consistent forces in the team’s offensive attack.
- Western Region Co-Coach of the Year: Paige Ellertson – This is the second time in her 4 years as the head coach of the Raiders that Paige has been recognized as one of the best coaches in the Northwest. It is a tribute to the work that she does with the team each and every day.
In addition, four of the Raiders sophomores have been selected to participate in the NWAACC Sophomore Showcase event, to be held at Edmonds CC, on December 5. Our congrats to; Chelsea Gandy, Rachel Hansen, Cami Medlock, and Laura Struck
