Two Pierce College students, planning classroom-teaching careers, have each received $1,000 scholarships from the Pierce County School Retirees Association for 2008 – 09.
Shanna Linn, who plans to attend Central Washington University, and Heidi Pauzer, the University of Washington, Tacoma, successfully met the criteria of two years completed at Pierce College and majoring in education.
Linn wants to teach kindergarten. Her maternal grandfather is a retired principal from the Bethel school district.
Pauzer, from Puyallup, plans to become a primary grade teacher. This will require an additional three-year program for a BA and one more year for a master’s degree.
The Pierce County School Retirees Association, a unit of the Washington State School Retirees Association, has been encouraging young college undergraduates to select teaching as a life career, via scholarships, for a number of years.Print This Post
