“The wind blowing hard,
Watching the trees shake slowly,
The big storm has come.”
Haiku by Darian Williams
Haiku is an unrhymed three-lined poem, while Tanka is similar , except that it has seven lines.
Learn more about both styles of Japanese poetry, as well as traditional poetry, at Forza Coffee Shop in DuPont this week. Examples of each style will be read by 8th grade students from Pioneer Middle School, beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Wilmington Dr. shop.
The coffee shop program also will include an exhibit of watercolors. See you there!
