The Steilacoom Museum Holiday Store will be open each Saturday and Sunday from November 22nd to December 7 at the Steilacoom Museum located at 1801 Rainier Street. Hours are from 11 am to 3 pm each day and admission to the store is free. The Holiday Store will feature many Christmas items along with unique gifts, many of local interest. Some examples are the new Steilacoom calendar which highlights photographs of local scenes, Steilacoom mugs, books about Steilacoom and other local areas, denim aprons with the historic Bair Drug & Hardware Store logo, ornaments depicting local landmarks and the famous Secret Salmon Sauce made by Colonel Don Rehburg, just to name a few.
Of particular note are the new notecards and Christmas cards featuring the original Victorian wallpaper design in the 1857 Nathaniel Orr Pioneer Home entry hall. This wallpaper was originally placed in the home in the late 1880’s and has been accurately reproduced by the Scalamandre company in New York. The cards, designed by local graphic artist, Adam Welch of Steilacoom, are available singly or in packets of 10.
In addition, children’s toys based on historic pioneer and Victorian examples are a special gift for the young ones. Tops, Jacob’s Ladders, dolls, yo-yo’s, marbles and puzzles forged by blacksmiths are some of the choices.
Visit the Holiday Shop for the unique gifts you have been wishing for this season and your purchases will benefit the Steilacoom Historical Museum Association properties and programs. For information, please call the museum at 253-584-4133.Print This Post
