Students from Clover Park School District’s Tyee Park Elementary School honored veterans in an assembly called “Let Freedom Sing.” The annual event featured a keynote address by former Washington state Gov. Gary Locke and music from Fort Lewis’ 56th Army Band.
Second- through fifth-graders sang a variety of patriotic songs to special guests including, Lt. Gov. Brad Owen, Gen. John Shalikashvili, Pearl Harbor survivors and military personnel from various branches.

History Alive‚ÄîTracey Lundquist, Tyee Park‚Äôs fine arts teacher, introduces a group of veterans who survived the attacks on Pearl Harbor. The veterans presented Lundquist with a plaque of appreciation for her annual performance honoring veterans.
From the Halls of Montezuma‚ÄîAudience members from the Marine Corps stood as Fort Lewis‚Äô 56th Army Band finished off the program by playing each branches‚Äô service song while students sung the lyrics. Service members were encouraged to stand for recognition when their branches‚Äô song was played.
