FORT LEWIS, WA — Soldiers of the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) will remember a fallen comrade during a sunrise re-dedication ceremony at the unit’s memorial wall on Veteran’s Day.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6:45 a.m., the name of Staff Sgt. David W. Textor’s name will be unveiled as the most recent addition to the roster of fallen Soldiers from the unit memorialized on the wall.
The Memorial Wall recognizes Soldiers who died while serving in the unit, on missions in Vietnam, Haiti, Bosnia, the Pentagon, and the Middle East. The wall currently has 162 names memorialized on it, twenty-four of which have been added since Sept. 11, 2001, most belonging to Soldiers who died while serving overseas.
Textor died July 15 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a vehicle incident. More information about Textor’s military service can be found on the Special Operations Command web site.
