FORT LEWIS, WA — Fort Lewis will support more than 40 Veterans Day events in local communities this year hosted by schools, veterans groups, and other organizations. Fort Lewis will provide guest speakers, military equipment displays, musicians, and honor guard support. The following is a list of events our Soldiers will take part in over the holiday weekend, and is provided for news media use in planning Veterans Day coverage.
Many of these events are open to the public. Individuals seeking to attend should contact the organization hosting the specific event they are interested in for more information.
Nov. 8: Auburn Veterans Day Parade (Auburn, Wash.)
I Corps Command Color Guard will march in the parade as part of the Joint Service marching unit. The 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division will provide a military vehicle for static display.
Seattle Filipino Community (Seattle, Wash.) The I Corps Command Honor Guard will present the colors for this dinner.
Oakbrook Golf & Country Club Veteran’s Day luncheon (Lakewood, Wash.) The I Corps Command Honor Guard will present the colors for this luncheon.
Pacific Lutheran University Veteran’s Day Observance (Parkland, Wash.) 191st Infantry Brigade will provide a guest speaker for this observance.
University of Puget Sound Veteran’s Day Observance (Tacoma, Wash.) Brigadier General Jeff Mathis, I Corps deputy commanding general, will be the guest speaker.
Patriots Landing Retirement Community (Dupont, Wash.) The 6th Military Police Group (Criminal Investigation Division) will provide a color guard and static display for this event.
Chehalis Veterans Day celebration (Chehalis, Wash.) The I Corps Command Honor Guard will present the colors, and the 56th Army Band will perform.
