The 3rd Stryker Brigade visited Woodbrook Middle School to help with the Harvest Festival and Book Fair last Friday night.
There were many games in the gym and cafeteria. The soldiers assisted the kids at each game and handed out candy for prizes. The Brigade had earlier collected a lot of candy on post for the event. They also provided 15 cakes for the cake walk, including one that looked like a giant eyeball.
The event was a big success, everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed a great meal. The kids enjoyed getting their faces painted (above) and they also played ring toss, bowling, tug of war, fooseball, bingo, chess, lots of other board games, pin the leaf on the tree, and enjoyed a great cake walk. Many families attended as well as soldiers from the 3rd Stryker Brigade and most of the school staff.
The PTSA provided 250 pieces of fried chicken, potato salad, rolls, chips and soda (and juice for the younger kids). Realizing they were going to run out of food, a last minute pizza run was completed just in time (12 large).
Also, the PTSA is looking for parents interested in taking on Board positions. The current 2 officers are into their third year, and this year they don’t have children at Woodbrook (they moved onto high school)! We still need parents interested in running for office in the PTSA.Print This Post
