That’s the number worn by former SHS player Cody Balogh. On Oct. 24 at Blair Taylor Field in Steilacoom, during the SHS/Klahowya game, Sentinel fans learned that Balogh’s onetime number was scheduled to be retired at the end of the current season.
Balogh, a 2004 SHS graduate, who began this season with the Chicago Bears, received his former team’s accolades on the 50-yard line during game’s midpoint on Friday night. Final score for the Sentinel РEagle game was 41-14.
SHS sportscaster Aaron McDonald relayed Balogh’s sports accomplishments while the 6’7” Balogh stood center field during the halftime ceremony, surrounded by members and coaches of the current team.
At the interlude‚Äôs conclusion, Balogh lofted the framed red/gold sport‚Äôs jersey, its foot-high numbers — 74 — visible from the bleachers.
Being a Bear, said a smiling Cody while he greeted friends and fans afterward, is all “I hoped it would be.”
