St. Clare opens state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology suite

St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood has expanded its array of services with the addition of a state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology (IR) suite. Advanced technology in the IR suite aids physicians in providing enhanced diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention without major surgery.

Expanded interventional imaging services at Franciscan Health System’s St. Clare Hospital now include:

Patients who are admitted to St. Clare Hospital benefit from the increased availability of these procedures because the need to transport patients to other facilities for these services has been eliminated.

The addition of the Interventional Radiology suite was made possible by a generous grant from the late Eva R. McLean of Lakewood, who pledged $1.5 million to establish the treatment unit inside the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Center that also bears her name. The gift from Mrs. McLean was the second-largest individual contribution ever received by the Franciscan Foundation.

“My husband and I always wanted to do something for education and health care ‚Äì two areas that significantly impacted and benefited our lives,‚Äù Mrs. McLean said. ‚ÄúThis gift fulfills our dream to do something for our community and will hopefully inspire others to do that same. We learned over the years that what you give, you get back many times over.‚Äù
