FORT LEWIS, WA — The Headquarters of the 62nd Medical Brigade will return from a 15-month deployment to Iraq on Tuesday, October 14. More than 100 Soldiers from the unit will be reunited with their families, at a ceremony currently scheduled for 7 a.m. Tuesday in the
Sheridan Fitness Center.
The headquarters of the 62nd Medical Brigade deployed in July 2007. This was the headquarters’ third deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Also scheduled to redeploy and participate in the ceremony are the 514th Ground Ambulance Company, 547th Area Support Medical Company, 551st Medical Logistics Company, 102nd Forward Surgical Team, 153rd Medical Detachment (Blood) and 673rd Medical Company (Dental Services).
The brigade headquarters first deployed in support or Operation Iraqi Freedom from Feb. 2003 through Aug. 2003, and deployed a second time in Dec. 2004 through Nov. 2005.
While deployed to Iraq since the summer of 2007, the unit achieved a 98 percent survival rate for patients entering a TF62 facility, an 80 percent battle injury return to duty rate, and treated over 106,000 dental patients; equivalent to over $9.6M in care. They also partnered with the Iraqi Ministry of Health to improve the healthcare system; trained over 800 Iraqi Healthcare Providers & Staff during professional engagements.
