Join millions of Americans on Saturday, October 25th doing volunteer projects to improve their communities and help their neighbors in need. This annual event is the largest community service effort in the nation.
The City of Lakewood Youth Council is coordinating projects throughout Lakewood in celebration of this event. Projects include: park beautification (planting daffodil & tulip bulbs) at Washington Park, planting native plants, park cleanup and replacing cemetery markers at Fort Steilacoom Park, rehabilitation of the Flett Creek Blueberry Farm and hopefully a food drive at the Towne Center Safeway. Participation qualifies as community service hours for Clover Park School District students.
A Kick-Off event will be held at City Hall beginning at 8:30am and projects will begin at 9am. The event will conclude at noon. Call 253-589-2489 to find out how you can get involved.
