Come ‘As Close as You Dare’ to African wildlife adventure at Lakewood Library

Travel and nature enthusiasts will immerse themselves in the dangers, beauty and humor of living in wild and remote Africa during a free program at Lakewood Pierce County Library, 6300 Wildaire Road S.W. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.

Becci Crowe, wildlife artist, documentary filmmaker and world traveler, engages and entertains with her extraordinary tales of leading a safari to Botswana and Zambia.

Specializing in wildlife and tribal portrait art, Crowe observed her subjects in their natural environments by traveling all over the world. She and her husband ventured into Rwanda, where their experiences tracking the rare mountain gorilla led to an interview by ‚ÄúNational Geographic Adventure Magazine‚Äù as part of an issue on the world’s top 25 adventure trips. Wanting to share her interests with others, Crowe subsequently led a group on safari to Botswana.

A strong advocate for educational programs that strive to preserve wildlife and world cultures, Crowe dedicates time to present programs on her travel, art and wildlife experiences.

Following the program, Crowe will offer DVDs of her film “Africa–As Close as You Dare” and art prints for purchase.

FRIENDS of Lakewood Library sponsor this free program.
