I wanted to respond to the letter that was written regarding the casino ban.
I totally agree with the Michael Lacadie’s position on issue. However, I wanted to add a few additional points to strengthen his position.
In addition to the economic impact on the Lakewood budget, you have the loss of jobs that the ban will have on the workers in the casinos. They are innocent victims if the ban occurs.
I also wish someone from the opposing side explain to me what the benefit to our community is if the casino’s are not here. Why ban Casino’s in Lakewood?
If their position is that the casino’s encourage gambling..the current gambler will not stop gambling, they will just go to the Indian Casino’s.
Do the local casino’s encourage crime in our city? We haven’t really heard any statistics from our law enforcement regarding this issue.
How does the lost tax revenue of a casino ban impact the city’s budget? What programs/services will be effected?
I believe the citizens of Lakewood should really research this issue and make their decision…not on emotion…but on what is best for the City Of Lakewood.
I personally have gambled in the local casino’s twice. However, banning Casino’s will effect all the Citizens of Lakewood!
