Ray and Sandy Fraley, retired Lakewood State Farm Insurance agents, remain hospitalized in Redding, California, recuperating from serious injuries suffered when the motorcycle on which they were riding collided with a deer.
The accident occurred Monday, Sep. 15 while they were returning home from an extensive motorcycle ride through the Southwest.
According to Bill Young, who, with his wife Gwen, drove to Redding to visit with the Fraleys, reported Sandy suffered a broken pelvis. She is reportedly improving and has been able to do some walking with assistance at the rehabilitation facility to where she has been transferred.
Ray is still in the intensive care section of Mercy Medical Center in Redding. He suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, a punctured lung, his spleen had to be removed, a shoulder was crushed and an ankle broken. He underwent surgery late last week on the leg injury. In addition to numerous cuts and bruises he suffered a head injury requiring a number of stitches to his forehead.
Young said that for the first time Fraley was able to acknowledge their presence Tuesday, indicating an improvement in his condition.
Cards can be sent to Ray at Mercy Medical Center, 2175 Rosaline Ave, Redding, CA 96001 and for Sandy it is Northern California Rehabilitation, 2801 Eureka Way, Redding, CA 96001.
