Fort Lewis Soldiers to gain citizenship in naturalization ceremony

FORT LEWIS, WA — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will swear in 19 Soldiers as new Americans at Fort Lewis on Wednesday, September 17. This ceremony commemorates Citizenship Day and Constitution Week, which honor the many contributions of naturalized citizens, and recognizes the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.

The Naturalization Ceremony will be performed at Fort Lewis’ Cascade Community Center on Main Post at 2 p.m., and is one of many USCIS ceremonies welcoming more than 39,000 new Americans across the nation throughout Constitution Week, which runs through September 23.

The 19 new Americans at Fort Lewis, who are all Army service members, come from 12 countries. These figures are preliminary, and are provided in advance to help you plan your coverage of this event.
