I am not surprised to see so many large Shawn Bunney campaign signs popping up on property owned by Miles Sand and Gravel – a strip mining company in Pierce County.
After months of hard work by the citizens in the Alderton-McMillin area attempting to preserve their community from additional strip mining, Shawn Bunney led the Republican majority on the Pierce County Council to amend the Alderton-McMillin land use plan and allow Miles Sand and Gravel to have free reign in mining the hills of the Alderton-McMillin community.
What a shame!
The kicker in all of this is that Shawn Bunney amended the Alderton-McMillin plan against the wishes of the community less than one week after Miles Sand and Gravel and their employees contributed nearly $5,000 to Bunney’s campaign for Pierce County Executive.
Now, are you surprised to see Bunney signs on strip mining company property?
