Lackey joins Northwest Commercial Bank board

August 14, 2008 By Ben Sclair

Richard Lackey has been elected to the board of directors of Lakewood’s Northwest Commercial Bank, according to an announcement by CEO & President Kurt Graff. Lackey previously served on the board of Cascade Community Bank.

Lackey, 57, is a partner in the certified public accounting  firm Shannon & Associates of Kent. The 30-employee firm was honored in 2007 by the Washington State Society of CPAs as CPA firm of the year.

Graff said Lackey’s addition to the board comes at an opportune time since Northwest Commercial Bank will open a new branch in Auburn in September. This will be the bank’s first full-service branch since opening six years ago. A loan production office on Puyallup’s South Hill has been open for a couple years.

The new board member was graduated from Michigan State University. He is a licensed CPA and is also a certified financial planner.

He has been an active member of the Kent community for 25 years. He served on the City of Kent budget committee and the Kent Public Market Development Authority board. Lackeywas a member of the Rotary Club of Kent and served on the club’s board of directors. Additionally, he was a founding board member of the Kent Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Active with youth projects, Lackey served on the board of Kent Youth and Family Services and the Normandy Park Swim Club.

Lackey is married and he and his wife, Raquel, have two grown children and one grandchild. They make their home on Mercer Island.

Northwest Commercial Bank, formed in 2002 by a group of Lakewood area business people, has grown rapidly in the last couple years and reported total assets of over $70 million at the end of July. The bank caters to area businesses and individuals, and prides itself on offering all customers personal banking style service by its staff of professionals. Northwest Commercial Bank is located at 5726 100th Street SW in Lakewood.
