Democratic leaders in the 28th Legislative District have added their support to a growing list of groups endorsing Calvin Goings for Pierce County Executive. The 28th Legislative District encompasses Lakewood, University Place, Fircrest, Steilacoom, and DuPont. Goings has already earned the sole support of the 2nd, 26th, and 31st District Democrats.
“Calvin Goings earned our sole endorsement due to his experience in the business community and his nearly two decades of proven leadership in local, county, and state government,” said Tammy Corey, Chair of the 28th District Democrats.
The level of grassroots support Goings has received from key swing districts will be critical for the coming fall election. Having an army of volunteers for doorbelling, phone calling, and sign waving is essential. “I am humbled to have over 1,200 individual financial donors and now dozens of activists volunteering from the various Democratic organizations,” commented Goings. He added, “we are well on our way to having the financial and volunteer resources needed to fully implement our campaign plan.”
Other leaders in the 28th Legislative District to support Goings include: State Representative Tami Green, Fircrest Councilmembers Chris Gruver and Kathy McVay, Lakewood Councilmember Claudia Thomas, DuPont Police Officers Association, Lakewood Fire Fighters Local 1488, Lakewood Police Independent Guild, Steilacoom Public Safety Officers Association, Tacoma/Fircrest Fire Fighters Local 31, University Place Fire Fighters Local 2105, and University Place/Pierce County Sherriff’s Guild 1889.
