By 12 noon on Friday, August 1, Save Lakewood will need another 1,000 signatures to enable the Initiative to ban casino gambling in Lakewood to make it to the ballot in November. The Pierce County Auditor reviewed the 4,939 signatures we previously submitted and determined there are 2,947 valid signatures. 1,992 signatures were challenged.
We met with the Auditor on Wednesday, July 23, to determine why over 30 percent of our signatures had been rejected in the hope that some can be saved.
But this means we must collect over 100 signatures per day beginning July 23. You can help by downloading the petition here, www.savelakewood.com, and gathering as many signatures as you can of Lakewood resident registered voters.
We would appreciate you e-mailing us each day at email@example.com with a count of your signatures, or call 988-2536 with the count so we will be able to know where we are at in reaching our goal.
Petitions may also be picked up and dropped off at the Christian Gift Center across from Clover Park High School on Gravelly Lake Drive. We also have established two hour shifts at the Library, Post Office and both doors at Safeway if you can help there. Again, call to volunteer to make sure we have all venues manned.
Thank you again for what you can do to help!
