The City of University Place is proud to hold UPfest 2008 at a new location, Cirque Park, 7250 Cirque Drive West, University Place on Friday, August 1 from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday August 2 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Getting to UPfest is easy: On Friday, August 1 parking is available on-site, with additional parking in the gravel lot next to Forza Coffee (Cirque Drive & Bridgeport Way). On Saturday, August 2 the parking lot will be filled with Classic Cars, so Festival-goers should plan to take the free shuttle from one of three off-site locations: Curtis Sr. High (8425 40th Street West), Drum Intermediate (4909 79th Avenue West) and Central Baptist Church (5000 67th Avenue West). Shuttle bus service will not be available on Friday, August 1.
The regional attraction features two days of festivities including family entertainment, local vendors and food concessions, a Kid Zone with games and inflatables, a Classic Car show, and two headlining performances from “The Dempseys” and “The Coats” on Saturday night.
Other highlights include the Optimists Club of West Tacoma’s Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction on Saturday morning from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Curtis High School Cafeteria, the UPtown Cruisin’ Association’s Classic Car Show Saturday afternoon from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cirque Park parking lot, and performances by family comedian Eric Haines, steel drum band “The Islanders,” and demonstrations with live animals by “Reptile Isle.” Entertainment sponsors include Lakewood Refuse, Columbia Bank, Rainier Bank, Venture Bank, Charles Wright Academy, Grassi’s Floral and Gift, and Tiger Tae Kwon Do Academy.
