The Pierce County Auditor’s Office is accepting applications for temporary work Aug. 19 and Nov. 4 during the Primary and General elections, respectively. “This is a great opportunity for retirees and others to participate in the democratic process and earn some extra money at the same time,” said Auditor Pat McCarthy.
Prospective extra-hire election workers must be prepared to work extended hours on the two election days. They also must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Be able to speak, read and write the English language;
- Be available to attend three mandatory training sessions;
- Be at least 16 years of age;
- Be able to drive and have a vehicle (workers will be reimbursed for mileage).
County employees are not eligible for the temporary positions. “We would appreciate county employees forwarding this opportunity to friends and relatives they believe might be interested,” the auditor said.
