In 2005 the City of Lakewood approved a master plan for American Lake Park. During the past few years, the City has implemented portions of the plan and is currently working on improvements to the boat launch area.
Early this year, Partners for Parks (PFP) selected the U-shaped dock/pier, a major element in the master plan, as its next big community project. PFP is a collaboration of Lakewood service clubs, community groups, educational institutions, military, businesses and public entities working to provide improvements to Lakewood area parks. PFP has already started raising funds to support this improvement at American Lake Park.
The City of Lakewood has a lot to do prior to allowing this project at the park. Design work, cost estimates and permitting are needed. This multi-year project will get started Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 6 p.m. when the City of Lakewood’s Park and Recreation Advisory Board hosts a planning meeting. This community planning meeting will be used to review the potential project, discuss neighborhood issues and ideas and gather information which will lead to a final design. The meeting will be held at Lakewood City Hall in the Council Chambers.
Please come help us design this new project. If you can’t attend this meeting, but would like more information, please contact me at 253-589-2489.Print This Post
