Some eligible members of Pierce County cities and towns still have not filed for the Economic Stimulus Payment (ESP) and the IRS is asking for assistance in reaching low-income workers, seniors, and veterans who earned or received at least $3000 in wages or eligible benefits. If they file before October 15, eligible Lakewood residents could bring another $435,300 to their community. University Place has $57,600 in unclaimed ESP credit. Steilacoom residents have $27,300 left on the Federal books and DuPont’s residents could still claim $14,100.
Last week the IRS sent letters to the mayors of all the cities and towns in Pierce County and around Washington asking for help in reaching taxpayers who can still claim the ESP. Members of the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition are available to answer questions and provide free assistance to residents who need help completing the simple form needed to claim the ESP. Call 253-383-3056 x118 or go to www.irs.gov for information.
