University Place Television wins Telly Award for Chambers Bay feature

University Place Television’s popular Destination Recreation series recently received its fifth video award, this time for the Chambers Bay Golf Course feature. This award commemorates the first Telly Award the station has ever earned. Last year, Destination Recreation won the

Alliance for Community Media’s “Best of the Northwest” award, as well as recognition from The Communicator Awards for the past two years.

The Destination Recreation series is produced and hosted by UPTV’s Kristina Gundersen and videotaped and edited by Dave Kellman of the Rainier Media Center. The series aims to provide viewers with a glimpse of the city’s wide variety of Parks and Recreation programs. It is a magazine style program that requires an intensive production process.

Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. The 29th annual Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries worldwide. Winners are awarded with Telly statuettes created by RS Owens, the manufacturers of the Emmy and the Oscar awards.

University Place Television (UPTV) can be seen in the City of University Place on Comcast Cable channel 21 or Click! cable channel 12. Limited UPTV programming can be seen throughout Pierce County by tuning into C-RCC cable channel 22 on Click! and Comcast.
