Caring for Kid wants to thank everyone who volunteered their time and donated money to make this another successful year. Working directly with the schools and other agencies we are able to provide direct services to kids in our community who were in need. We ended the school year with a long list of accomplishments:
- School Supplies ‚Äì 1,071 kids served
- Clothing Bank Orders – 813 kids served
- Holiday Fair – 2,305 kids served
- Ready to Learn Fair ‚Äì August 16, 2008New Books Distributed – 4,814
- Dental Kits Distributed ‚Äì 2,239
- Emergency Food – 100 families
- Furniture – 60 families
- Baby Clothes Distribution ‚Äì 314 (6 outfits per bag)
- Individual Emergency Food Kits for kids – 365
In partnership with Comcast and Communities in Schools, 750 “Growing Up Is Fun” bags were distributed. The bags contain instructional materials for low income preschool families.
We are now gearing up for our Ready to Learn Fair, an event held to help kids in need so they are ready for school. The event will be held at Lochburn Middle School, August 16th from 9 am-1 pm. To qualify the kids must be on free and reduced lunch and live in the Clover Park, Steilacoom or University Place School Districts. If you would like volunteer or donate please call Diane Formoso at 279-9777, or firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking for donations of school supplies, new underwear or socks, new shoes and new or gently worn clothing that is kid friendly. Monetary donations are graciously accepted.
