Long time Lakewood Area Shelter Association (LASA) and Fish Food Banks volunteer, Bill Amblad is the 2008 recipient of the Dr. Bernie Ootkin Humanitarian Award. The award is named after a former Rotary club member and funded by the Ootkin family.
The winner is awarded a Paul Harris Certificate from Rotary International. This is a yearly award to members of the Lakewood Community who serves in a silent capacity. The Ootkin family goal is to honor a person who serves the community in an unsung position. Bill filled that requirement 100%. Not only does Bill act as the book keeper for LASA’s Outreach program and the inventory Control Specialist for Fish he also plays Bass Fiddle with Dance Northwest and the Lakewood Community Festival. He is also a bell ringer for Little Church on the Prairie.
Bill sometimes jokes about retiring from retirement, as he is busier than ever.
