Joel Feldman was installed as the 53rd president of the Rotary Club of Lakewood Saturday, June 28, during ceremonies at Tacoma Country & Golf Club. Feldman succeeds Bob Zawilski.
In addition to installing the club‚Äôs new president, officers and directors, the 100 members and spouses attending the event saw Rotarian Tony Robinson honored as Rotarian of the Year and Bill Amblad named as the Bernie Ootkin Humanitarian Award recipient. This is presented only to a non-Rotarian each year.
Other officers installed by Dave Covey, assistant governor of the 5,200-member Rotary district, were Greg Horn, president-elect; Ben Sclair, secretary; and Astrid Arola, treasurer. Directors include Dave Guttu, Clint Johnson, Janine Messenger, Paul Guy, Bill Potter and Paul Wulfestieg. Three individuals completed their term as directors. They were Duncan Cook, Mary Covelli-Johnson and Steve Mazoff.
Past President Norm Tremaine served as master of ceremonies. Among attendees other then club members and spouses, were Dr. Don Paradise and his wife Peggy. Dr. Paradise was installed president of the 55-member Clover Park Rotary Club the previous evening.

The Rotarian and non-Rotarian of the year presentations were made by Bud Montgomery, a member of the Lakewood club‚Äôs foundation committee. The awards include a $1,000 contribution to Rotary International‚Äôs Paul Harris Foundation for international service.
Kirsten Quinn, representing the spouses of Lakewood Rotarians Club, accepted a check from the Rotary Club for their participation in the annual Sportsman‚Äôs Dinner and Auction. She explained that the funds will cover scholarships to students as well as other charitable activities.
Lakewood Rotary meets each Friday at Tacoma Country Club. The club currently has approximately 130 members.
