Jaclynn Hawkins (above left) and Jillian James (above right) were recently selected as recipients of the 2008 ALLEN Realtors academic scholarship.
Hawkins, a senior at Lakes High School, and James, a senior at Clover Park High School, will both use the $1,000 cash scholarship to help pay for their continued higher education this fall.
Hawkins graduated with a 3.99 grade point average and plans to attend Dixie State College (UT) where she will study Business Administration. She is a state award-winner in DECA, is a member of the National Honor Society, and a four-year letter winner in both soccer and softball. Hawkins, a catcher, will play collegiate softball at Dixie State.
James earned a 3.49 grade point average and will enter the University of Washington this fall as a sophomore, due to credits earned from the Running Start program. James will study speech pathology. She was elected ASB Treasurer and was co-president of the International Club. James played varsity volleyball, was a varsity cheer squad co-captain and participated in the peer mentor program.
Mike Larson (above middle), president and designated broker of ALLEN Realtors, presented the scholarships at a recent sales meeting. ALLEN Realtors, founded in 1940, is the oldest real estate brokerage in Pierce County and is located in Lakewood.
