FORT LEWIS, Wash. — Fort Lewis will honor volunteers at its Annual Recognition Luncheon and Awards Ceremony, Wednesday, May 21, at 11:30 a.m. at the American Lake Club.
The luncheon is the highlight of Volunteer Week, which salutes all the volunteers who provide quality of life support to members of the Fort Lewis community. Awards will be given to the Volunteer of the Year, Active Duty Volunteer of the Year, Retiree Volunteer of the Year, Volunteers of Merit and Youth Volunteer of the Year.
According to Lori Parker, Fort Lewis Volunteer Coordinator, 40 volunteers were nominated for this year’s awards.
Volunteers support such activities as the Thrift Shop, Boy and Girl Scouts, youth service activities, church groups and schools.
Several local businesses and organizations contribute prizes to the award recipients.
