FORT LEWIS, Wash. — Fort Lewis will open its gates to the Puget Sound community during the annual Armed Forces Day celebration, on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Military families and members of the public are invited to attend this year’s event. The 2008 Armed Forces Day schedule features a full day of food, fun, and family-friendly festivities- including jugglers, music, children’s games, living history and military exhibits, a parachute drop into Cowan Stadium, and the ‚ÄúNorthwest Military Star‚Äù amateur singing competition.
Guests without an installation access pass should enter Fort Lewis via the Dupont Gate, located just off Interstate 5 at Exit 119. Civilian vehicles will be directed to a satellite parking area and shuttled to the event site. Drivers should be prepared to present a driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance on request, and passengers aged 16 and older should bring a photo ID.
