Want to operate a restaurant or other business in Steilacoom’s historical Bair Drug Store? The Steilacoom Historical Museum Association (SHMA) is seeking proposals for operation of a business in the historic building in downtown Steilacoom. The association has been remodeling and upgrading the structure during the last few months and hopes to have it opened early this summer.
The Request for Proposals (RFP) can be found in its entirety online at:
The Association is looking for commercial operations within The Bair. The museum association has operated the facility as a balance between its historic identity and a commercial enterprise. To that end, SHMA values most a business that will maintain an operation that is consistent with the historical character and function of The Bair.
SHMA operates a small gift shop within The Bair and anticipates continuing this activity. The gift shop sells items that are “old-fashioned” in nature, consistent with the museum’s overall focus. The extensive collection of historic artifacts including an old post office and many artifacts that filled the shelves during that era will remain in the building.
The tenant may apply for a beer and wine license provided that such spirits will be served exclusively with meals.
Interested parties should submit a proposal that must include, at a minimum, the following information and responses:
- The name(s), physical and mailing address(es),telephone and fax number(s) and email address of the prospective tenant
- Identification and description of the proposed type ofbusiness to be operated
Additional items required by the RFP can be found at the online site.
Proposals will be accepted until March 30, and should be sent to: Steilacoom Historical Museum Association, Attn: Brant Shalikashvili, POBox 88016, Steilacoom, WA 98388. The successful vendor will be selected by April 21, 2008.
